Save the Date for the VCTM Academy in Virginia Beach
Because VCTM is one of the hosts for the regional conference (see below), in March VCTM will sponsor an Academy rather than the Spring Conference. The dates are March 6-7, 2015 and the location is Virginia Beach. There will be grade band themes for K-2, 3-5, 6-8, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 and above. Stay tuned for more information but mark it on your calendar now.
Regional NCTM Conference in Richmond: Registration is now open!
VCTM and The Greater Richmond Council of Teachers of Mathematics are co-host organizations for the NCTM Regional Conference in Richmond on November 12-14. This is a wonderful opportunity in our own backyard. Hear presentations by Dan Meyer, Diane Briars, Skip Fennell, Linda Gojak, Steve Leinwand, Cathy Seeley, and Stuart Murphy as well as Virginia’s own Michael Bolling, LouAnn Lovin, and Joy Whitenack. Professional development can include a visit to NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA and service as an ambassador of NASA content at Busch Gardens during NASA Days on Saturday, August 2nd and Sunday, August 3rd, 2014. Teachers interested in serving as an ambassador for NASA are invited to a face-to-face teacher workshop at NASA Langley Research Center on Wednesday, July 30th, 2014 from 10am to 2pm.
